End of Tenancy: What You Need to Know

1. Giving Notice

As your tenancy with us nears its end, make sure to give proper notice in writing. For fixed-term agreements, this is usually 1–2 months, while rolling contracts typically require 1 month's notice. Check your tenancy agreement for specific terms regarding notice periods and any break clauses.

2. Preparing the Property

To ensure you get your full deposit back, clean the property thoroughly, including carpets, appliances and handle any minor repairs. Remove all personal items, tidy up any garden spaces and restore the property to its original condition. If required, hire professional cleaners and keep receipts as proof.

3. Final Steps

Return all keys to us on the agreed day and attend the final inspection if possible. Settle your utility bills and council tax, providing final meter readings to the suppliers. After the inspection, your deposit will be returned through the deposit protection scheme, minus any agreed deductions. Don’t forget to provide a forwarding address for future correspondence.
